BURIED BENEATH (USA/NY)

BURIED BENEATH was a black/death metal band that formed in Rochester, NY in early 1992. The original line-up was Steve-Guitar, Shane-Drums, Tim-Bass, Mikael-Guitar and Jason-Vocals. A first demo came out that year, rather unnoticeable death metal stuff. Then Steve left. Various 2nd guitarists came and went. In 1993 came the 2nd demo "Vivisect The Virgin Mary" which was much darker and started to take on some black metal feel. A debut CD was supposed to come out in 1994, but the French label Chaos records screwed us over, so it was released at the end of 1994 as our 3rd demo "And This Too Shall Pass Away". It defined a brutally atmospheric black-death metal band. It also featured new vocalist Eric, replacing Jason who had quit the band. We were also trying to get a 7"ep released by this Slovakian label, we took 2 songs from the 3rd demo and I re-recorded my vocals on them since we'd kicked out our vocalist Eric and I was now doing the vocals, guitars and keys. No 2nd guitarist could be kept. But the 7"ep never came out. At this point, our drummer decided to quit. We decided to disband, and from the ashes of Buried Beneath came the band Night Conquers Day. Mikael was also involved with other bands: Into the Sunless Meridian, ShadowCaster, Night Conquers Day and TearStained (no covers for this demo)
